Cyso Cloud at KubeCon 2024
Cyso Cloud had a booth at KubeCon in Paris this year. Marino (platform developer), Thomas and Sam (both platform engineers) were among those present to man the booth. They talked with many attendees, explaining what Cyso Cloud offers.
KubeCon is a very interesting tech-event and it is definitely worth attending! For Sam it was his first time attending KubeCon, and hopefully not the last. The Cyso Cloud team traveled to Paris by train. We find this way of traveling worth repeating. There was even time to see some of the city of Paris after arrival. “We went to Place de la Concorde, touched the Arc de Triomphe, and we stood under the Eiffel Tower.”
New offerings at KubeCon
Marino and Thomas were also present last year in Amsterdam. At that time, Cyso promoted the Enterprise Managed Kubernetes service together with ‘The European Cloud‘. This year, the approach was slightly different. ‘The European Cloud’ is still very attractive as an alternative to AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. Additionally, Cyso now also offers its unique cloud software for others to use on their own hardware stack. To Marino’s surprise, many visitors already have their own hardware and expressed great interest in our software to build a stable private region. So, it was a very successful event for Cyso Cloud. And now, it’s time to move forward: the Hannover Messe is just around the corner.
“We have been offering Managed Kubernetes in the Cyso Cloud based on Gardener for almost 2 years,” says Thomas. “At the fair, an employee of another cloud provider came by and mentioned that they use Gardener across 98 clouds with 3 base clusters. This gave me a kick and made me realise where we can still grow with Cyso.”
"We had interesting conversations with some parties who are looking for an alternative to hyperscales like AWS or are struggling with their VMware..."
“The conversations at KubeCon were very interesting,” says Marino. “The enthusiastic reactions to our services have given me a lot of energy again. I would recommend all colleagues who couldn’t make it this time to join next time because it gives you a lot of energy!”
Sam adds: “We had interesting conversations with some parties who are looking for an alternative to hyperscales like AWS or are struggling with their VMware, or who want to migrate to a private/hybrid cloud.”
Action for FREE sandbox
We brought bingo cards that people could have stamped. People got a stamp on the card after a conversation with us. We spoke to many visitors who want to try a sandbox for free without obligation to thoroughly test Cyso Cloud and see if they are satisfied with the service. If people provide feedback, they have a chance to win the Hero plush toy.
It was so busy!
KubeCon is known for attracting many visitors. Despite that, Sam was surprised by the number of visitors (it was pleasantly busy). And because it was so busy, we didn’t get around to attending a presentation. However, we occasionally took a stroll, and we encountered some interesting parties in the field of observability! Sam also came across a company that supports administrators in updating their Kubernetes cluster. They do this by distilling the relevant change logs themselves and reproducing the update, then creating a playbook that allows the administrators to do this step by step themselves. As we walked around, we found it interesting to connect with companies looking for a private or hybrid cloud solution. In addition to explaining what Cyso Cloud can do, we also think along in processes such as migration.
All in all, these were wonderful and successful days at KubeCon. Where we met many interesting people and engaged in conversations. It was great to see everyone at KubeCon, and we hope to see everyone again at future events.
On Thursday 16 May Cyso is hosting a Meetup where our SRE colleagues will talk about security, AI and other trends related to Kubernetes. We would love to see you there. Click the button below to register.
