"I'm Paul Homan, co-director at Hatch Digital. Together with our team of strategists and developers, we help businesses deliver smarter processes and stronger commercial results through digitalisation. We transform complex challenges into digital solutions that drive efficiency, operational clarity, and sustainable growth. From resource planning and process automation to self-service portals, we create solutions tailored to your business needs."
Dutch technical agency Hatch Digital transforms fragmented infrastructure into a unified, scalable platform with Cyso Cloud, gaining performance improvements, cost efficiency and genuine partnership.
Hatch Digital has been a Cyso Cloud customer since November 2025. This Netherlands-based technical agency has evolved significantly from their website development roots. Today, they specialise in application development, automation and user platform engineering. They serve clients across multiple sectors with sophisticated SaaS applications and digital innovation projects.
Paul Homan, co-director at Hatch Digital, and Michiel Vonk, Hatch's technical lead, guided the company through a critical infrastructure transformation. The company's technical evolution created a challenge that its existing hosting setup simply couldn't accommodate. With a growing portfolio of Kubernetes-based applications and a small but highly skilled technical team, they found themselves spread across five different hosting providers. Each had its own limitations and management overhead.
The search for reliable European cloud infrastructure with genuine support
Hatch's evaluation of cloud alternatives revealed a growing concern amongst their client base. During pitches for new business, their infrastructure choices increasingly became deal-breakers.
Paul recalls the turning point: "We'd been exploring an American cloud provider and had quite a bit running there. Technically, it worked well. But when potential clients asked where we hosted their data, the response was consistent: 'That's going to be a problem. If you want to work with us, you'll need European infrastructure.’”
This wasn't a one-off conversation. "Our customers are predominantly Dutch and very conscious about data sovereignty," Paul explains. "They weren't comfortable with American infrastructure." The client feedback sparked serious internal discussions about strategic direction. European infrastructure shifted from nice-to-have to business-critical for winning and retaining clients.
More about our EU cloud platformThe challenge: European credentials with proper support
The technical team of Hatch Digital explored various European cloud providers. They were attracted by their credentials and competitive pricing. They even built test environments. But a critical risk emerged: dependency on internal technical expertise without adequate provider support.
"That meant I was relying on Michiel, because Michiel is the one who understood the cloud infrastructure. And if something were to happen to Michiel, I might have lost access to that knowledge. In short, that meant we had a dependency position on one person. That's not ideal, it's a no-go for me and for my clients. In the end, our strong point is delivering smart, stable SaaS solutions to our customers, not the hosting itself. We needed to partner up with a partner that has focus on that part specifically." Paul explains.
The realisation crystallised. They needed a provider that combined European infrastructure with proper support, Dutch communication, and genuine partnership.
Discovering Cyso Cloud: Dutch pragmatism meets technical expertise
The initial connection
Hatch's path to Cyso Cloud demonstrates the value of professional networks. The relationship began through a LinkedIn connection. It evolved into substantive technical discussions.
"I'm normally quite sceptical when salespeople reach out" Paul admits. "But the initial conversation was refreshingly different." What truly impressed us was the technical depth in subsequent meetings. "When we sat down with one of the co-owners of Cyso, we could have proper technical conversations. That's when we knew this partnership would work."
Speed and pragmatism from day one
What immediately differentiated Cyso Cloud was the combination of technical expertise and pragmatic execution. Paul was pleasantly surprised by the pace of the onboarding: "Within three days, we had a test environment up and running. That speed might be normal for Cyso, but we'd never experienced that before."
The straightforward approach resonated with Hatch's own culture. "No nonsense, just practical solutions. The pricing was transparent, and the service model made sense. That down-to-earth attitude is exactly what we were looking for."

The migration process took approximately six months from first contact to having production workloads running on Cyso Cloud. Rather than a big-bang migration, Hatch took a measured approach. It matched their ongoing client work.
After initial discussions in May, the team received technical designs and proposals. Michiel recalls the collaborative approach: "When we reviewed the design in late June, we realised we'd overcomplicated our requirements. We asked if they could simplify the approach and requote accordingly." Cyso's willingness to iterate and adapt impressed the team of Hatch Digital.
OpenStack compatibility accelerates migration
Hatch's existing Kubernetes expertise accelerated the transition to Cyso Cloud's OpenStack platform. "The advantage was that we already knew Kubernetes well. Then it's more a matter of: okay, how does OpenStack work or how does it work in the cloud?" Michiel explains. The OpenStack compatibility with their workflows made the transition smooth.
The platform consolidation is proceeding systematically. "We currently use five different hosting parties. And that's a bit much. So we're now consolidating, client by client, supplier by supplier" Paul notes. The goal: complete migration by February 2026. Hatch is consolidating their entire infrastructure onto Cyso Cloud's unified platform.
The Cyso Cloud advantage: performance, partnership and Dutch pragmatism
Cost efficiency with transparent pricing
The migration to Cyso Cloud delivered improvements across multiple dimensions. "If we compare it with the Cloud infrastructures we had before, there's a direct cost advantage, so we'll soon pay less.” The cost model at Cyso Cloud differs fundamentally from previous providers. Rather than paying premium prices for rigid SLA packages, Hatch benefits from scalable, usage-based pricing. It aligns with their actual needs. The transparency in pricing eliminates surprises and allows for better budget planning. “In addition, the pricing build-up towards our customers is much more transparent and easily scalable this way. We are already receiving positive feedback on this.”
Explore transparent cloud pricingPerformance that scales with ambition
The performance improvements proved significant from the first production deployments. "I hope to be able to achieve a performance benefit" Paul noted before going live. The test deployments validated this expectation.
The change in service quality stands out as particularly impactful. "There's better service response. So our questions and visits are responded to faster and better” Paul notes.
This responsiveness matters enormously for a technical agency working on client projects with tight deadlines. The ability to get quick answers and rapid support changes how Hatch can operate. It changes what they can promise clients.
Dutch communication and cultural fit
For a Dutch agency serving Dutch clients, the communication model and cultural alignment matter significantly. "Working with a Dutch provider makes a real difference," Paul explains. "Our entire team operates in Dutch. Our clients are Dutch. When we need to speak English with clients, that happens maybe a few times a year. Our engineers aren't comfortable working in English daily. With Cyso, that language barrier simply doesn't exist."
The ability to communicate technical issues in Dutch, with people who understand the local market and business culture, removes friction from problem-solving. "We're really looking for a certain down-to-earth quality," Paul adds. The shared Dutch approach, characterised by directness and practical problem-solving, creates a genuine partnership rather than vendor dependency.
Partnership and European credentials strengthen client relationships
The shift from a transactional vendor relationship to a genuine partnership stands out as particularly valuable. "I think the tools we can work with, one of which is the MyCyso environment, are pleasant. For communication, we have a Slack channel with, among others, a Kubernetes expert from Cyso.”
The direct communication channels, quarterly reviews, and proactive engagement from Cyso Cloud create a collaborative relationship. "What matters most is reliability. Do what you promise. If something can't be done, just be honest about it. That transparency is what makes working together so pleasant, and I hope it continues."
The European foundation of Cyso Cloud addresses the data sovereignty concerns that emerged during their provider search. Hatch Digital can now confidently assure clients that their infrastructure runs entirely within the Netherlands, operated by a Dutch company under European jurisdiction. This alignment strengthens client relationships and provides a competitive advantage in conversations with increasingly sovereignty-aware customers.
Looking ahead: innovation enabled by stable infrastructure
AI integration and technical evolution
The consolidation onto Cyso Cloud positions Hatch for its next phase of technical innovation. With infrastructure complexity resolved, it can focus on emerging technologies and client value.
AI integration represents one frontier. "At Hatch, we're running a pilot project where we fully generate an application from a data model with AI. That's just completely automated. We look at LLM support, but at the customer level. So what can we do with a modified LLM for customer service?"
The stable infrastructure at Cyso Cloud supports this experimentation. "We notice that we are cutting applications into smaller pieces. We look at technology differently. The emergence of AI, how do you deal with that? Are you going to incorporate that into your applications? Are you going to host that separately? Are you going to host that locally? That's a current topic that's also on our minds."
Practical advice: validate before committing
Paul's experience offers practical guidance for agencies and technical businesses evaluating their infrastructure options.
"What I found particularly refreshing was that we weren't bombarded with offers and being pressured" he notes. The measured approach allowed proper evaluation without pressure. Testing capabilities hands-on before committing proved essential for building confidence in the decision.
Request your free trial environmentFor agencies considering similar transitions, the message is clear: look for partners, not just providers. "The most important thing is finding a provider who delivers on their promises," Paul advises. "And when something isn't possible, they should tell you straight away. That honesty builds trust."
