SECUREDD provides businesses with fully GDPR-compliant solutions for the secure exchange, storage, and transmission of documents via, among other things, the eSafe portal, secure email, digital payslips, case management, and e-signing. The strength of SECUREDD lies in seamlessly integrating secure solutions into the business processes of our partners and clients, offering a wide range of white-label and integration options.
About SECUREDD
Before exploring the technical solution, it's necessary to understand what drives SECUREDD's unique approach to secure communications. The company's business model centres on flexibility and customer collaboration, which directly influenced their infrastructure requirements and provider selection criteria.
SECUREDD operates as a value-added reseller specialising in secure data storage and communication solutions. Kenny Rijnbeek is the CEO of SECUREDD and has been with the company for eight years, progressing from implementation projects to now running business operations. The company focuses on providing flexible, customer-centric solutions rather than one-size-fits-all products.
"I've been working at SECUREDD for eight years now. We came in contact with a software company in the United Kingdom providing solutions for secure email and secure payslip communications. It was their approach to the entirety of security which impressed us - not just the application, but also storage, access management, infrastructure, transfer; everything was included. What we've done is to take that product and service build new interfaces around it thereby making it suitable for the Dutch- and broader European market. Our core offering centers around what I describe as a 'secure messaging platform' - think of it like a government message portal, but for business communications, B2C or B2B
As a small company, well-positioned to adapt our services based on what people need. We're not a company with one product that we claim is excellent. We like to think along and help our customers."
The challenge: finding a reliable EU cloud solution
When GDPR compliance requirements meet provider limitations, businesses can find themselves in urgent situations requiring quick solutions. SECUREDD's experience shows how operational stability can be affected when existing providers cannot deliver essential compliance documentation.
After eight years of successful operations, the company faced an urgent challenge when an audit required by Logius for DigiD connections revealed its existing provider couldn't deliver the necessary compliance documentation.
When their previous provider was unable to provide the required documentation within the needed timeframe, SECUREDD had to find a new European cloud provider that could meet their specific requirements.
How was your IT infrastructure set up before becoming a Cyso Cloud customer?
“We had previously relied on another provider's managed cloud solution, which seemed adequate until an audit exposed significant gaps in compliance documentation," says Kenny Rijnbeek, CEO of SECUREDD. The existing provider's unwillingness to provide necessary certifications forced an emergency migration under extreme time pressure.
"We were previously with another provider. Last year, we switched to their managed cloud, which was comparable to a VPS price-wise, with management support from our partner in the United Kingdom.
Then came a GDPR audit, where you need to provide evidence that everything is indeed in order as you claim. We thought our previous provider, being a big player, would have all that ready. Well, they didn't have it and didn't want to provide it either. When they essentially said our business wasn't big enough to matter, that was the end for me. So we had to search for another provider with urgency."
What were the most important conditions you had when searching for a cloud partner?
The search criteria were non-negotiable due to SECUREDD's compliance requirements and customer commitments. The shortlist included ISO certification, Dutch data residency, and specific Linux distribution support. These requirements significantly narrowed the field of potential European cloud providers.
SECUREDD's path to Cyso Cloud came through hosting.nl, which recognised that Kenny's specific requirements needed the more flexible solutions available through Cyso Cloud.
ISO certification was simply a must. Servers in the Netherlands were also a must. We were also looking for someone who would offer the Linux distribution we needed, which limited our choices significantly.

Initially, Cyso Cloud did not make my list. The list was much shorter than I had anticipated. As I recall, I ended up at hosting.nl, which was one of the two or three I ultimately came across that could offer hosting in the Netherlands. But when I asked questions, they directed me to Cyso Cloud."
The onboarding experience with Cyso Cloud
Successful emergency migrations depend heavily on responsive support and clear communication channels. The onboarding process reveals how Cyso Cloud's approach to customer service and technical accessibility differs significantly from less personalised providers.
How did you experience onboarding with Cyso Cloud?
Cyso Cloud delivered the essential compliance documentation needed for the audit, whilst providing direct access to technical specialists during the migration period. This contrasted with the previous provider's support model, where direct technical assistance was only available after problems had already escalated.
“It was a very stressful period, but that wasn't caused by Cyso Cloud's side. That was down to the other provider and why we ended up moving to Cyso Cloud. So it was actually very nice to just be able to say with confidence after a few conversations: okay, Cyso Cloud is going to arrange it, that's going to work out. And that's exactly what happened.
I also spoke with the security officer a few times, and they were available by phone and email. That kind of direct access was really valuable during the migration process, being able to speak directly with the right technical people when you need them.”
Measuring the impact: stability and performance improvements
The true test of any cloud migration lies in measurable operational improvements. SECUREDD's experience demonstrates how the right European cloud provider can deliver improved performance, superior reliability, and streamlined management capabilities that directly impact daily operations.
What measurable benefits have you achieved by using Cyso Cloud's services?
The migration to Cyso Cloud delivered 100% stability with zero downtime, whilst offering superior configuration flexibility that perfectly matched SECUREDD's memory-intensive requirements. The platform's intuitive storage management also streamlined daily operations.
"In terms of stability, I actually expect that if I look now, I'll see beautiful green lines showing no downtime over the last thirty days. Stability has returned to 100% since we're back on VPS, specifically these ones with Cyso Cloud.
Performance has also improved somewhat because Cyso Cloud has more options in how they can deliver such a VPS. We're mainly memory-dependent and not so much CPU-bound. With many VPS providers, you always have to work within certain tiers - two cores, and then you can have four or eight GB... If you want sixteen GB, you have to go to four or eight cores.
We don't need all that, and with Cyso Cloud, we were able to create a system with lots of RAM and not too many CPU cores. So that was also a very pleasant bonus.
We can now simply click to add storage in Cyso Cloud's portal without needing to restart anything. It gets added immediately."
The European cloud advantage: why location matters for business
Data sovereignty and regulatory compliance have evolved from technical considerations to fundamental business differentiators. SECUREDD's approach to leveraging European cloud infrastructure demonstrates how the right provider choice can become a competitive advantage that builds customer trust and supports sales efforts.
Can you tell us more about why it's important to stay with a European cloud provider?
For SECUREDD, choosing a European cloud provider isn't just about compliance, it's a fundamental business differentiator that builds customer trust. The company's commitment to Dutch data residency becomes a key selling point with privacy-conscious clients.
"We are quite strict from a security standpoint. In the Netherlands and Germany, the privacy legislation is simply stricter. We pay more attention to it; we're relatively progressive countries in terms of IT infrastructure and security.
You see the major American providers bending over backwards trying to win trust in the European market. They're trying to start companies in Europe that are truly separate companies, independent from the parent company in America. But you still remain an American company that has to comply with the U.S. Patriot Act. You can't talk away that it's an American club.
For many customers, that's a big risk factor. So if we just have everything in the Netherlands, you can take certain steps to minimise all that. We tell our clients it's written into our contracts: your data is hosted in the Netherlands with Dutch providers. Storage stays within the Netherlands. Just for that extra bit of trust."
Planning for growth with Cyso Cloud
Sustainable partnerships between businesses and their cloud providers require scalability and service expansion capabilities. SECUREDD's future plans illustrate how Cyso Cloud's platform can accommodate growing requirements whilst maintaining the operational simplicity that small businesses value.
What further steps do you plan with Cyso Cloud?
SECUREDD's future plans include consolidating all infrastructure with Cyso Cloud, whilst exploring additional services like Managed Kubernetes as the business scales. This demonstrates the platform's ability to grow alongside client requirements.
"In any case, the existing things that are still running elsewhere, I just want to transfer over to Cyso Cloud. So definitely more VPS units. In the long term, we might consider managed Kubernetes. If we gain customers, we need more servers.”
View object storage solutionsWould you recommend Cyso Cloud to other businesses, and if so, why?
"Yes, I would recommend Cyso Cloud. What I really like is the fact that I set it up, and since then, I've basically not had to look at it. So that in itself I really like. While with our previous provider, I constantly had to log in to check if there wasn't something in the logging.
The most important thing is that the servers and services I'm purchasing need to be stable and do what they're supposed to do. In that regard, Cyso Cloud delivers exactly what's promised. Besides that, it has been very easy to get in contact with the technical team when I needed them."
Conclusion: The strategic value of choosing the right European cloud partner
SECUREDD's journey demonstrates how the right European cloud provider can transform both operational stability and competitive positioning. By choosing Cyso Cloud, they gained not just technical infrastructure, but also the compliance framework and customer trust that comes with genuine European data sovereignty.
The partnership allowed SECUREDD to focus on what they do best: providing secure data storage and communication solutions for their clients, without worrying about infrastructure reliability or compliance gaps.
