What are managed cloud services? What a provider covers and what stays with you
Managed cloud services explained: what a provider does, what stays with you, and whether you should consider in-house. Six questions to ask your provider.

Rooted in IT innovation since 1997.
Cyso is the oldest independent cloud and managed hosting provider in the Netherlands. What began as a specialist in networking and managed hosting has grown into a full-service cloud and technology company, combining open-source cloud infrastructure with 24/7 managed services, cybersecurity, and expert delivery support. We operate our own network and data centres in the Netherlands and Germany, and everything we do stays within European borders.
Cyso Cloud, our self-service cloud platform, was established as Fuga Cloud in 2016 and fully integrated into Cyso in 2025. It is built on OpenStack, adheres to open standards, and is designed for organisations that want a high-performance, sovereign alternative to hyperscale cloud providers.

“We believe a secure, open, and accessible internet is one of our most valuable shared resources, and that it must be protected. Where hyperscalers, tech monopolists, and geopolitical pressure increasingly dictate where data lives and who controls it, European digital autonomy must be actively built. Cyso exists to give organisations that freedom: open-source cloud infrastructure, expert managed services, and an unwavering commitment to data sovereignty and independence.”
We believe cloud infrastructure should empower, not restrict. Our principles guide everything we build, ensuring you get a cloud platform that’s truly built around your needs.

Cloud infrastructure and managed services, under one roof
Cyso gives developers and engineering teams flexible, scalable cloud infrastructure: compute, managed Kubernetes, object storage, databases, load balancers, DNS as a Service, and more. All on open standards, all within the EU.
Alongside the platform, our multi-disciplinary teams provide managed services that let your engineers focus on building rather than operating. That includes 24/7 monitoring and management through our NOC and SOC, proactive cybersecurity, and hands-on support for migrations and deployments. Our teams are known for their technical depth and direct, personal approach.
Whether you need a self-service cloud environment, a fully managed platform, or expert support for a complex migration, Cyso provides a single trusted partner for all of it.

OpenStack-based
Cyso Cloud runs on OpenStack, an open-source platform with open standards. Our simplified dashboard makes it easy to get started, but you can also work directly with OpenStack API’s using the command line if you prefer.
We stick to the vanilla releases, keeping things as close to the original as possible. Our system always runs on the latest stable OpenStack version, rigorously tested for performance and security. This ensures minimal changes to provide the most stable and secure public OpenStack cloud.
Whether you’re on a tight budget or aiming for specific goals, our cloud computing is flexible and scalable. Our premium hardware guarantees the performance you need, making it easy to build solutions of any size.

We strongly believe in the Gaia-X principles and a Sovereign Cloud.
