Volume Storage
Estimated time to read: 1 minute
Volumes are persistent block storage devices that you can attach to your instances. Unlike ephemeral storage, volume data persists independently of the instance lifecycle — you can detach, resize, snapshot, and reattach volumes as needed.
Overview:
- Attaching a Volume — connect block storage to a running instance
- Volume Snapshots — back up and recover volume data
- Extending a Volume — increase the size of an existing volume
- Multi-Attach Volumes — share a volume across multiple instances with a cluster-aware filesystem
- Migrating a Volume — move volumes between OpenStack providers
