Dedicated IPs
Estimated time to read: 3 minutes
When you're sending a large volume of email—more than 250,000 emails per month—a Dedicated IP address offers important advantages for your email deliverability and reputation.
What is a Dedicated IP?
A Dedicated IP is an IP address assigned exclusively to your account, meaning only your emails are sent from that IP. This is different from a Shared IP, where multiple senders use the same IP.
Why It Matters
Email providers like Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo look at the reputation of your sending IP to decide whether to deliver your messages to the inbox, spam folder, or block them entirely. If you're on a shared IP, your deliverability can be affected by other senders' behavior.
With a Dedicated IP, your email reputation is entirely in your control. This is especially important when you're sending high volumes, as your own sending practices have a much bigger impact on the IP's reputation.
Key Benefits
- Improved Deliverability: You're not affected by other senders' behavior.
- Reputation Control: Build and maintain your own sender reputation.
- Consistency: Email performance is easier to monitor and optimize.
Who Can Get a Dedicated IP?
- Available: For accounts sending more than 250,000 emails per month.
- Free of Charge: For accounts sending over 1 million emails per month.

Why a Dedicated IP is Not Recommended for Low-Volume Senders
If you're sending fewer than 250,000 emails per month, a Dedicated IP is usually not recommended. Here's why:
IP Reputation Depends on Volume
Email providers evaluate your sending IP based on its reputation, which requires consistent and high volume to build and maintain. If your monthly email volume is low, it's difficult to establish a strong reputation on your own IP address.
The "Warming Up" Challenge
A new Dedicated IP needs to be warmed up gradually—this means slowly ramping up the number of emails you send to gain trust with inbox providers. If you send fewer than 250,000 emails per month:
- You may never send enough volume to warm up the IP effectively.
- The IP can go cold between campaigns, harming your deliverability.
- ISPs may flag your emails as suspicious due to irregular or low sending patterns.
Our Reputation Pool System
To ensure optimal deliverability for all clients, we use a tiered reputation pool system:
- New or lower-volume senders start in a carefully monitored shared pool with a solid shared reputation.
- As you demonstrate consistent, responsible sending practices, we move your account up the ladder into higher-trust pools.
- These upper-tier pools have stricter standards but offer even better inbox placement and performance.
A Dedicated IP—Only When It Makes Sense
Once you're consistently sending over 250,000 emails per month, and especially if you reach over 1 million per month, you become eligible for a Dedicated IP:
- Available on request for accounts sending over 250,000 emails/month.
- Free of charge if you're sending 1 million or more emails/month.
Shared IP might be the Better Choice
A Shared IP is used by multiple senders and typically has an established, well-maintained reputation. This means your emails benefit from the positive sending history of the group, helping improve inbox placement—even if your own volume is low.
